St Mary's County History
St. Mary's County, Maryland was established in 1637 only three years after our English ancestors arrived in two ships, the Ark & Dove.
The counties bounds changed significantly during the 1600s and once was called Potomack County in the 1650s. The final bounds were settled in 1696.
In its early infancy, it was considered a Proprietary Colony, under Lord Baltimore.
