As 2025 draws toward its close, we can reflect with gratitude on what we have achieved together this year. Thanks to your support, the Historical Society continues to advance knowledge and inspire curiosity about the people, places, and events that make St. Mary’s County such an extraordinary place.
This year two accomplishments stand out. First, the award of a $75,000 grant by the Maryland Historical Trust to identify critical repairs for Tudor Hall and to help prioritize our fund-raising for those repairs. Second, our programs, media presence, and growing membership have made us one of the larger historical societies throughout all Maryland counties and the largest among our three neighboring counties.
Looking ahead, 2026 will be a landmark year: our 75th Anniversary!
Since 1951, members and friends have come together to keep St. Mary’s County history alive—through our collections, publications, programs, and stewardship of historic Tudor Hall. In 2026 as we renew our commitment to the history of this County, you will be invited to join us in special programs and events celebrating this milestone.
Through all those years, the Annual Appeal has played a crucial role in funding the programs and facilities needed to achieve our goals.
