From: Peter LaPorte

A few seats remain for the
 2025 Fall Dinner
Friday, October 24th 6:00pm to 9:00pm  at the Olde Breton Inn

In a first of its kind format for an Historical Society dinner, Mr. Donald Barber and Mr. David Brown will jointly present their book:
 The Barber Family
From Slavery Through Segregation and the Civil Rights Movement
This is a story not often heard. It is a glimpse into life within Sotterley Plantation and at the community outside its boundaries. Donald and David welcome your questions and joining in conversation with them.

The Barber Family spent four generations at Sotterley Plantation. A graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, Donald Barber spent over thirty-years working in Human Services, returning to Sotterley as member of the Board of Trustees.
David Brown is a former State Department Foreign Service Officer having served at posts principally in Asia. An interpreter and member of the Sotterley Board, David Brown has written several books about Sotterley and collaborated with Donald to tell the story of four generations of the Barber Family. David will be the featured speaker at a March 2026 Historically Speaking event as part of the 250th Anniversary Celebrations of America's Founding.
In addition to the presentation, there will be several announcements of importance to Historical Society Members for months to come.

You will find a registration form below. Or, if you prefer, you can register at our website by clicking here.

Seating is limited to 150.

We look forward to seeing you a week from Friday!
