Long-time member Eve Love who, along with husband John Cook, recently published Before The Base in collaboration with the Calvert Maritime Museum. It is the story of the communities that were in the Cedar Point area before the Navy took over in 1942. John and Eve examined the records at the National Archives regarding the process for the acquisition of land and development of Naval Air Station Patuxent River. The archives held descriptive appraisals and documentary photographs of the buildings and property that comprised the farms, homes, businesses and communities for the condemnation process. These appraisals and photographs were organized and prepared for publication by John and Eve.
