The 2023 Annual Appeal Ends Soon

We set a modest goal of $25,000 for the 2023 Annual Appeal. Because of your support and generosity, we have raised at this writing $35,300. Thank you.

With less than three weeks left in the Appeal, we'd like to ask those who have not yet contributed to please consider doing so.

Getting to $40,000 would provide us with a solid financial foundation to seek grants from organizations which want - and expect - to see that we can do what needs to be done when raising money. In many instances, grantors look at member support as a key determining factor in their evaluations.

$40,000 is only $4,700 above where we are now. You have done a lot. We know and appreciate that. But the trip from $35,300 to $40,000 is a relatively short one compared to where we started.

If you haven't donated, please consider doing so. If you have donated and you are able, please consider adding to your gift. You can do so by clicking on this link:  2023 Annual Appeal

Thank you!

Join Us for Christmas Cheer!

On December 9th at 1:00pm, we will hold our second Christmas Open House for Members and friends. Tudor Hall will be decorated. There will be food, drink, and live music.

This event is without charge - though we ask that if you have a favorite Christmas goodie, you bring it along to share.

And we also ask that you please RSVP so we know how many are coming. You can do so at this link Christmas at Tudor Hall! - and let us know what goodies you might bring along.

We look forward to ushering in this Season of Joy with you.

Giving Thanks

In a few days, our thoughts and activities will turn to Thanksgiving. It's often a hectic time - more so than Christmas. Somehow, our family guests grew to fourteen people - of which twelve (including my wife and I) will stay at our house. Hectic? Ask my wife!

But no matter how busy it may get, it is appropriate at this time of year to pause and take time to say thank you to special people .

For us, Joseph "Teeny" Guy is and has been one of those volunteers who you don't have to ask - a person on whom you can depend. People like Teeny have a natural instinct to do the right thing when it needs to be done, and in the right way.

So, on November 8th Lynn Delahay, Local Liaison for Senator Jack Bailey, along with Historical Society President Tim Heely, presented Teeny with a Senatorial Citation for his work on behalf of the Historical Society and the County. More than forty people attended the little reception in his honor here at Tudor Hall - relatives, friends, and admirers of a fine man. It was a surprise for Teeny - just as we wanted it to be. He was surrounded by well-wishers and warmth.

Thank you, Teeny, for all you do and for the person you are.

Speaking About Thanksgiving

Tudor Hall will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of Thanksgiving week.

Historically Speaking: A Murder in St. Mary's County

We're quickly running out of space for this Historically Speaking event on Wednesday, December 6th  starting at 7:00pm at the Inn at Leonardtown. The event is free - and if you want learn more about the speaker and program, please go to Historically Speaking: A Murder in St. Mary's County.

This talk by Holly Fabbri, Associate Director of Alumni Relations at St. Mary's College of Maryland, is one of the most fascinating and compelling that we have ever presented. The murder - the victim - was her Great Great Grandmother and the probable murderer, her Great Great Grandfather.

Reservations are capped at fifty - so if you want to attend, click the link now!
